For the second year in a row, the Delaware Valley Alumni Club held an event at Citzens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pa., and it was a success again. A total of 40 alumni, family and friends gathered in left field to watch the beloved Phillies take on the NL East leading Washington Nationals and the Phils walked away with a thrilling, 1-0, victory to draw closer in the standings. David Bell lofted a sacrifice fly to deep left-center field with the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the ninth to score Bobby Abreu who had singled to lead off the ninth inning to cap the thrilling pitcher's duel in front of 33,365 fans.

Anthony Spangler '01 and Brook Williams '99 organized this year's event and helped to bring together alumni from the 1950s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and 2000s for the gathering. The hot day started with 30 of the 40 in attendance getting together in a parking lot outside the stadium for an hour and a half of tailgating!!! The group enjoyed the chance to mingle with each other before making their way into the park for the one-run game. Folks brought their lunch and beverage of choice, there were desserts (thanks to Jennifer Savino '71 and Peg Sell '71) that were shared and even some chicken and bar-be-que ribs were passed around by Jennifer and Robert Savino and family.

Check out the photo gallery above to see some of the fun that was enjoyed by those in attendance!

Special thanks goes to Anthony Spangler and Brook Williams, who helped organize their first alumni event and hopefully not their last.
