For the fourth straight year, Jodie (Monger) '88, Mark and Emily Gray opened
up their beautiful home in McLean, Va., for an annual spring gathering held
in conjuction with the annual JC-DC Job Shadow experience. The past three
years, the Grays have hosted an event that has kicked off the job shadow
on a Sunday afternoon.
The group was treated to a wonderful lunch, prepared by Janice Monger, Jodie's sister. Janice has been responsible for the meals at all four of the gatherings at the home of the Grays and she has spoiled those in attendance each year with her talents. Entertainment and tours of the home were provided by Emily, the four-year old daughter of Mark and Jodie.
Following lunch, the group gathered for a short "formal" program led by JC-DC President David Corman '77. David spoke to the year and all of the events that took place and previewed some of the upcoming outings. In addition, Juniata Associate Vice President for Development Erik Evans, Jodie and Director of Alumni Relations Bub Parker '91 addressed the group and thanked them for attending and for all that they do for Juniata. Lisa Myers '81 was recognized for her lead volunteer role with the annual job shadow program and Jodie was thanked by the group for her dedication to Juniata and the JC-DC club. In addition, Jodie was presented with a Juniata watch in honor of her commitment to JC and upcoming birthday.
Speaking of those in attendance, there were a total of 51 on hand for the event, including six current Juniata students and their alumni work-site and lodging hosts for the day on Monday. Alumni from the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s were represented.
Thank you to Jodie, Mark and Emily for hosting this event and for all of their work to help make the gathering a success. If you have not made it to this annual event, please plan to make an appearance next March. We will look forward to seeing you there.
