Sunshine and cool autumn breezes provided the perfect atmosphere for Homecoming and Family Weekend 2006 at Juniata College. A crowd of more than 875 alumni, family and friends journeyed back to College Hill to take part.

The Classes of 1996 and 2001 gathered on Friday evening for reunions at the Brass Rail (Days Inn) and Memories Sports Bar & Grill. Juniata Presents, formerly known as the Artist Series, featured The Spencers: Theatre of Illusion, which was followed by a reception for parents of current students. The annual tradition of making apple butter at the Raystown Field Station started Friday evening and concluded on Saturday afternoon.

On Saturday morning and afternoon, 13 affinity gatherings took place. Other weekend highlights included the Alumni Tailgate overlooking the football game, during which the Eagles pleased the Homecoming fans by thrashing the Crusaders of Susquehanna, a picnic on Founders Lawn, men’s and women’s alumni rugby games, and the annual Legacy Reception. The Classes of 1996 and 2001 gathered again for their 5 and 10-year reunions on Saturday evening, and a crowd braved the crisp night air for a movie on the Halbritter Center lawn.

Following Sunday’s Campus Worship Service, the Raystown Field Station was open for tours, while others participated in the alumni baseball game.

Be sure to mark your calendar for Homecoming and Family Weekend 2007, slated for September 21-23.
