A total of 13 alumni, family and friends gathered at the University Club for dinner in Jacksonville, Fla., on February 1, to help Juniata kick off a string of six alumni events in eight days in the Sunshine State.
Established in 1968, the University Club continues to be Jacksonville's premier private business and dining club. Known for its ambiance, the club offers a magnificent 360-degree view overlooking the St. John's River, downtown Jacksonville, various bridges and historical San Marco. Located atop the Riverplace Tower on the southbank of downtown, the club is ideal for entertaining, meeting and socializing and that was the case for the blue and gold faithful.
After a social hour to start the evening, those in attendance sat down around a large table for a delicious dinner. Following the meal, Director of Alumni Relations Bub Parker ’91 and Director of Planned Giving Kim Kitchen spoke to the group and answered questions that they had. The curious and engaged alumni were thrilled to have a Juniata event in their “backyard” and welcomed the idea of having an annual alumni event.
Overall, the decades of the 1950s, 1970s, 1980s and 1990s were represented at the event.
