Central PA Juniata Club Annual Theater Event

The Central Pennsylvania (CPA) Club gathered for the Second Annual Theater Event on Saturday, April 28th and spent a wonderful evening together. The night started with an engaging reception at the home of Dan '64 and Sheila O'Sullivan in Mechanicsburg, PA. At the pre-show social, those in attendance were welcomed with refreshments and delicious food provided by Dan and Sheila. In addition, Dan addressed the group and provided some background of the night’s performance, updated them on upcoming CPA events and welcomed them to volunteer for the College in any number of ways. The scene then shifted to the Open Stage of Harrisburg.

At the Open Stage the group settled in to see The Fantasticks (Music by Harvey Schmidt, book and lyrics by Tom Jones), the world’s longest running musical. A special surprise was on hand for the Juniatians who headed to Open Stage because one of their own, Rick Voight, a member of the Class of 1970, was performing in the musical and played the part of Mortimer. When Mortimer appeared as an actor dressed up as an Indian, he sported blue and gold war paint on his face (Rick knew that there were going to be Juniata alumni in the audience). Following the performance, Rick got out of character and joined his fellow College Hill mates in the lobby for some socializing. What Rick did not know was that his former Juniata roommate, Steve Jones ’70, was with the alumni outing. The two had a wonderful time reminiscing about their days together at Juniata.

A total of 22 were in attendance for the evening and all will be greatly anticipating the Third Annual Theater Event.

Special thanks to Dan '64 and Sheila O’Sullivan for organizing and hosting this event!
