Alumni, parents and friends of the College joined to cheer on the men’s and women’s basketball teams in a doubleheader at Lebanon Valley College in Annville, PA on January 24. The event, sponsored jointly by the Juniata J-Club and the Central Pennsylvania (CPA) Juniata Club created a friendly environment of support for our visiting teams.

Juniata spirit was evident as the fans wearing blue and gold gathered behind the visitor’s bench. The Juniata banner and Eagles flag guided the crowd to the Juniata section where many stopped at the give-away table to pick-up JC stickers and pins and to register to win Juniata t-shirts.

Both Eagles teams played aggressively providing the fans with heart-stopping action. The women fought to advance to an overtime match-up, but were defeated by a single basket. The men rallied in the second half threatening to overcome a 20 point deficit. They came up just short, losing to the Flying Dutchmen 58-54.

Following the games, a number of alumni retired to Batdorf’s Restaurant and Pub to share stories about their favorite athletic experiences and reminisce about star athletes of their time.

As a former manager for the Juniata College men’s basketball team, Dan O’Sullivan ’64 took a special interest in organizing this event. Many thanks to Dan!

The decades of 1950’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and 2000's were represented at this event which drew a total of 45 alumni, family members and friends.
