Juniata 3, Wisconsin-Platteville 0 Juniata 3, Illinois Wesleyan 1 BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - For the second consecutive day the Juniata College women\'s volleyball team earned a relatively easy win in its opening match and then got off to a slow start in its second match of the day, but the end result was still another pair of victories for the Eagles as Juniata defeated Wisconsin-Platteville 3-0 and Illinois Wesleyan 3-1 on the final day of the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational. Juniata improved its record to 26-1 with the two victories. The Eagles dropped game one in the afternoon match against host Illinois Wesleyan by a 27-30 score, but then answered by winning the final three games 30-16, 30-19, 30-10. Amber Thomas (Conestoga Valley/Ephrata) led Juniata\'s offense for the third time over the weekend as she knocked out 19 kills. Stephanie Kines (Towson/Towson, Md.) was in double figures for the fourth time over the weekend with 17 finishes for Juniata. After the sluggish start the Eagles also got a boost off the bench from Aly Pompeani (Hopewell/Aliquippa) who came on and added energy to the Juniata attack. Megan Sollenberger (Cumberland Valley/Mechanicsburg) finished with 20 digs in the match while Erin Albert (Philipsburg-Osceola/Philipsburg) and Paige Johnston (Hempfield/Lancaster) each had three blocks. Jessica Rithcey (Greencastle-Antrim/Greencastle) and Kristi Fitzsimmons (Diamond Ranch/Pomona, Calif.) both contributed two aces for Juniata. The familiar faces were productive for Juniata as well in the 3-0 win over Wisconsin-Platteville which the Eagles claimed by scores of 30-15, 30-28, 30-22. Thomas and Kines again paced the offense with 18 and 12 kills respectively. Kines also led the way with 24 digs in the match. Sollenberger was also a big factor defensively as she brought-up 24 digs. Juniata will play its only home regular-season conference match of the season on Wednesday as the Eagles host Messiah. ###
