PRELIMINARY PA state tournament scoring results. Scores will not be vetted until at least Wednesday.
IMMEDIATE RESPONSE REQUESTED: Due to lots of volunteer and judge cancellations at the last minute, we are short the desired number of judges to assist with events. If you have “extra” coaches or volunteers coming with your team, and those people are willing to assist with an event, please notify us upon your registration or email Sharon Conaway at email@example.com. Thank you for your attention and possible assistance!
Experimental Design B Division will be held in Brumbaugh Academic Center, room B202. The schedule in the program you will receive at registration reflects this room change.
For Wind Power B AND C: Information on fan spin: When I stand in front of the fan with the air blowing in my face, as I look at the fan blades they rotate clockwise.
It is obviously impossible to cram 500 words on a 3 X 5 card, so I have been accepting either typed or hand-written explanations on a piece of paper or a card, which I feel is the intent of the rule. So, I am accepting any form of paper or card, and just making sure that the explanation is not more than 500 words.
Please remember that registration does not open until 2PM on Friday. We will not be able to process teams early. Thank you.
Don’t get penalized! In the State interpretation of the general rules of fair play, any team found on the Juniata campus testing a built device before 9:00AM April 23rd will be assessed a 10% deduction/increase in their score for the event. Exceptions may be posted on the announcements.

We will be allowing trim flights before the official start of the competition. However, once the first time slot begins at 9:00am, trim flights will not be allowed. If anyone asks why we don’t allow trim flights, there are two main reasons. First, allowing trim flights throughout the day would give a significant advantage to teams with time slots towards the end of the competition. Second, it eliminates any possible interference with teams who are competing or other events like Wright Stuff who share the space with us.
"Wright Stuff" rules permit students the opportunity for test flights during the regular competition hours before they check in as long as they don’t interfere with other students competing. Students competing take precedence over kids just testing. So if a team does want to get a sense for the flight dynamics of the larger area, there is opportunity do after 9:00. (Once their plane is officially checked in then they are limited to 8 minutes from the launch of their next flight.)
Students will need a calculator. They CANNOT use a cell phone calculator. The calculator can be very simplistic. Its most complex needs will be to do squares, square root and logs. The kids will not need to even understand what a log is, they will just need to know how to press the button to get the log of a given number out of the calculator and then use it in an equation.
SCHEDULE CHANGE!!! Due to the extensive time needed to grade Experimental Design and the desire to stay on schedule for the awards ceremony, we have moved the Div. B event to the morning. BOTH Div. C and B will be in the morning, but in different rooms. The Division B schedule with all applicable corrections is now posted. Please disregard previous schedule placement of Div. B Experimental Design in the afternoon sessions.
If at all possible, please do NOT arrive on JC campus prior to 1:30PM on Friday, April 22. There are several events going on that day at Juniata and traffic snarls prior to 1:30 will be probable. The public safety staff is positioned to assist with unloading and parking beginning at 1:30PM.
Our Hillel members are very much looking forward to having your students join us for our Seder this year! Please visit our Google Form for registration purposes. The form also contains where we will be having the Seder along with start time. We will send final details to each contact person closer to the time of the event.
3d. The device must be designed and constructed to consecutively execute a sequence of transfers from one simple machine to another simple machine. Pennsylvania will further stipulate that there must be a minimum of 3 score-able transfers not including the start and end task. Failure will result in the team being placed on the second tier.
