Name: Emma Brumbaugh
POE: Marketing
Semester of Internship: Spring 2011
Internship Title: Marketing Intern
Why did you choose JCEL/HCBI as your internship location?

When the JCEL marketing internship was offered to me, I chose it because I actually didn’t know much about it and wanted to learn more. It gave me the opportunity to spread the word and make others more aware.
How did you hear about the internship opportunity at JCEL/HCBI?

Professor Jim Donaldson recommended me.
What skills did you acquire at JCEL/HCBI that transferred into post graduation jobs, class work, and additional internships?

I learned computer skills, especially with a media visibility campaign, as well as business skills, social media skills, and leadership skills.
Do you feel the internship was beneficial? Why?

Yes. I learned what a business incubator actually does and I have been able to put my marketing skills to use for JCEL/SBI to promote more business growth and help plan events.

Favorite/Specific project you worked on during your time here.

I really like the social media aspect I was put in charge of and helping run the facebook fan page and delivering new content.

Have you obtained other internships? If so, did your internship at JCEL assist you in the skills necessary for another internship?

I have not had another internship since working at JCEL.
What is your advice to students looking to do an internship?

Doing an internship is a great experience because it gives you the opportunity to really learn what you are good at and helps you find the career path you are looking for.

Any additional information?

I had a great time working for JCEL. I liked that I was given a lot of independence with my work but if I ever needed help with anything, someone was always there to assist me. I would strongly encourage an internship while at Juniata.
